Research Type Experimental To test the utility of BTP-merging we performed extensive experimental trials on benchmark instances from the International CP Competition1. For each binary CSP instance, we performed BTP-mergings until convergence with a time-out of one hour. In total, we obtained results for 2,547 instances out of 3,811 benchmark instances within a time-out of one hour. Table 1 gives a summary of the results of the experimental trials.
